I know summer is long over, but I finally made something out of my Pineapple Whips fabric design: an off-shoulder, dirndl-inspired dress from the "Patterns by Gertie" line (Butterick B6322). I deviated from the sewing pattern a little bit, and added an elastic neckline and armholes instead of using seam binding, as well as added pockets because they make my life so much easier. Fully lined, all edges serged and finished, and the zipper only a *little* wonky–it's probably the cleanest garment I have ever constructed so far. #sewing #fashion #diy #sewingproject #surfacedesign #dolewhip #pineapplewhip #textiledesign #spoonflower #illustration #butterick #butterickb6322 #butterick6322 #b6322 #patternsbygertie #ootd

Imogen as Masha for Halloween. I made this costume, and although it is very simple, it is notable in my sewing repertoire, in that it is officially the first garment that I have ever sewn in a set of buttonholes and buttons. I am not super happy with how the length looks, but I purposefully made it shorter so she doesn't trip over herself while trick-or-treating. #sewing #sewingproject #diy #mashaandthebear #halloween

Trumpkin is finished! Spooky, yes? I think I was 12 the last time I carved a pumpkin, and this is my first portrait pumpkin ever. Suffice to say, my carving skills need much improvement. Now, let's see how long it takes for this pumpkin to get smashed on our front porch. #trumpkin #trumpkin2016 #pumpkincarving #pumpkinportrait #jackolantern #halloween #halloween2016
